APLIP Takes Oath as Gov. Sol Aragones Vows Support for Laguna’s Librarians

The Laguna Provincial Library, in cooperation with the Association of Public Librarians and Information Professionals (APLIP) in Laguna, Inc., held a one day seminar and oath taking ceremony themed “Breaking New Ground: Celebrating Unity, Championing Progress.”

The event was led by Provincial Librarian Justina Garcia and graced by Governor Sol Aragones, who administered the oath of office to the newly elected APLIP officers.

In her keynote address, Governor Aragones reflected on the evolving role of libraries in the digital era. She fondly recalled the days when children were eager to visit libraries, emphasizing the new challenge librarians face today. “Paano natin gagawin innovative? Paano natin hihikayatin pa ang mga bata na pumunta sa library?” Governor Aragones asked, urging librarians to find creative ways to inspire the younger generation to rediscover the joy of reading and learning.

She also acknowledged the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), noting that while technology continues to transform the landscape of education and information access, its proper use remains crucial. Aragones pointed out the difference between the traditional learning experience and the modern tools available today, encouraging balance and responsible integration of innovation.

Governor Aragones further expressed her administration’s continued support for educational and community initiatives.

“Ako po ay handang tumulong sa inyo, at kung may programa po kayo para sa inyong organisasyon at eskwelahan, open po kami ang Provincial Government ng Laguna,” she assured, reinforcing her advocacy for accessible and sustainable learning environments across the province.

The one day seminar featured distinguished speakers from University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Dr. Mary Ann Ingua of UPLB discussed strategies for driving innovation and ensuring the sustainability of library services, while Dr. Mark Anthony Idang, Education Program Supervisor from DepEd SDO Laguna, tackled modern approaches to library management and education in the digital age.

The event served as a platform to strengthen unity among Laguna’s librarians and information professionals, promoting collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision of progress in public library development.

Governor Aragones concluded the gathering by reaffirming her commitment to a government that listens, acts, and provides real solutions to the needs of the people, including the champions of learning and literacy.
