Laguna Celebrates Bamboo Day, Highlights Innovation and Resilience

Laguna Province marked Bamboo Day with the theme “Laguna Bamboo: Growing with Purpose, Rooted in Resilience,” showcasing the vital role of bamboo in sustainability, innovation, and local livelihoods.

Led by the Laguna Province Bamboo Industry Development Council (LPBDC) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI), the event drew over 200 participants from bamboo enterprises, local governments, national agencies, and industry professionals.

A Bamboo Product Exhibit opened the celebration, featuring handcrafted bamboo items from Laguna, including musical instruments, notebooks, charcoal, figurines, and personal care products—highlighting the province’s creativity and bamboo's eco-friendly versatility.

In a message delivered by her representative, Governor Sol Aragones emphasized bamboo’s role in environmental conservation, economic growth, and community development. She lauded the collaboration among local and national agencies to position Laguna as a bamboo innovation hub.

DOST-FPRDI reaffirmed its commitment to advancing research and technology to boost the quality and competitiveness of bamboo products in both local and global markets.
